Birthday Boy!

Harrison has just turned 2!
It seems only yesterday that he was a teeny baby. Harrison is fascinating to watch and listen to. His vocabulary and comprehension skills are amazing. He loves to talk so we get to hear all about everything he thinks (which I think is so fun). He can recite poetry, the alphabet, count to 10, and recognizes some of the letters of the alphabet. My grandma said that maybe he'd grow to be the President one day. Who knows, with a brain like his and his big blue eyes, the sky's the limit!

We had a really nice time celebrating his birthday with the family at the Daines' home. We grilled chicken and bratwurst, had great fruit, salad, and Jello Jiggler's. I wouldn't have thought to make those (good idea Em)! My contribution to the dinner was Harrison's Mickey Mouse birthday cake. I have to say that I am proud of myself for doing it. I tried to use a template on the cake to do the picture, but it ended up taking off the top layer of frosting with it so I had to draw the picture by myself. For not having drawn much more than a stick figure in several years, I think it turned out pretty good! Harrison loves candles so even though he turned 2 I got him a whole box of candles that he enthusiastically put on the cake.

I forgot my swimsuit so I couldn't get in the pool to play with the kids, but they had a good time with Andy and stayed in the more shallow end. It's crazy watching these kids grow up. I wish I saw them more often. You can't help but be cheered up when you spend time with them. Alia's such a happy, laughing little girl. Mel's got a little mischief behind her innocent eyes; and Harrison's a brilliant little boy who likes to yell, and bang. They are the best little people ever!

I'm loving your cake endeavors! Way to be so ambitious. All in a day's work for the favorite aunt right? You have to maintain your top position.
Great to see you the other day.
